2018 Functions of the Opera Society - Gallery

Last But by No Means Least

On Thursday December 6th 2018 at 12.30pm the final event of the Opera Society Inc’s year was held at the wonderful Windsor Hotel.

Circa 110 members and guests were treated to a sumptuous meal, wonderful singing by an aspiring young opera “star in the waiting”. Stephen Marsh was very ably supported by an excellent repetiteur Phillipa Safey. This was followed by an address from the CEO of Opera Australia after which all present were afforded the opportunity to take home some wonderful prizes.

This event will live long in the memories of those present as something they were so glad to have attended.

To top it all off long serving committee volunteers John Salter and Ivor Buxton were awarded Life Membership of the society in recognition of services rendered.

A wonderful occasion upon which to end the calendar year and set the scene for the year to come.

Spring Lunch, September 2018

A new venue, a wonderful singer and repetiteur, great food, good service all made for yet another memorable occasion for Opera Society members to get together and enjoy what they love best.

The weather could not have been better so all in all it really was a most enjoyable day looking over the courts at the famous Kooyong Tennis Centre.

Christmas in July Lunch, July 2018

More than seventy (70) Opera Society members and friends met in the Exhibition Room at the Melbourne Marriott to enjoy our traditional Christmas in July festivities.

The singer was our very own sponsored artist this year Stephen Marsh accompanied by repetiteur Adam McMillan both from Melba Opera Trust.

Members and guests were treated to a wonderful variety of arias and songs performed magnificently by our artists fulfilling our society’s role of providing opportunities for up and coming young musicians to perform before an admiring audience.

This was our second of four lunches for 2018 the next being our Spring event to be held on Thursday September 20th at Kooyong Tennis Centre.

If the fun and enjoyment of those attending our first two lunches this year is any indication bookings will need to be in early for the September event.
